January 15, 2008 — General Membership Meeting

9:30 A.M. Plant Market, Country Store, Specimen Display

10:00 A.M. Business Meeting: Welcome and introduction of new members.

Nominating Committee Report. Scholarship Presentation.

10:30 A.M. Horticulture Workshop:Club member, NGC Gardening Consultant and Flower Show Judge,

Eileen Fiumara will present a workshop on “Unusual Plants.”

11:00 A.M. Program: Curtis Thomsen, Senior Instructor for the Smart Gardening Program and experienced

landscape designer will present a program “Ways with Worms” on worms and vermiculture.

12:00 P.M. Luncheon: BBI (Brown Bag It). Please bring table service for you and your guests.

February Club Activities

February 19 , 2008 — General Membership Meeting

9:30 A.M. Plant Market, Country Store, Specimen Display

10:00 A.M. Business Meeting:Welcome and introduction of new members. Election of officers.

10:30 A.M. Horticulture Workshop: CGCI President, club member and Flower Show Judge,

Robin Pokorski, will present a workshop on “Favorite Tools.”

11:00 A.M. Program: Organic Gardening Educator for Kelloggs Garden Products,

Gisele Schoniger, will present a program “Healthy Soils – Healthy Gardens.”

The focus will be on building healthy soils through the use of biologically active composts

and natural organic fertilizers.

12:00 P.M. Luncheon: BBI (Brown Bag It). Please bring table service for you and your guests.

March Bus Tour

March 18, 2008 — General Membership Bus Tour

Our spring bus tour will begin at the Balboa Sports Center at 8:45 A.M. We will leave from

the parking lot on Balboa Blvd. at 9:00 A.M. for Greenwood Daylily Gardens, Inc., in Somis.

Greenwood grows thousands of daylily, iris, pelargonium and canna varieties for landscape professionals

and home gardeners.

Lunch will be at Rancho de Las Flores where we will enjoy the beautiful hilltop views overlooking Greenwood.

Bring your own sack lunch, desserts will be provided by our hostesses. The club will provide iced tea and bottled water.

Following lunch, the busliner will take us for a brief visit at the Somis Nut House.

Our last stop will be the five-acre Baron Brothers Nursery in Camarillo.

Wear walking shoes, bring a hat or visor and a sack lunch, and enjoy a day with your garden club friends.

We will return to the Balboa Sports Center around 3:30 P.M.

Donation: $15.00 (includes bus driver’s tip, and a small donation to Southern California Garden Club).

April 15, 2008 — General Membership Meeting

9:30 A.M. Plant Market, Country Store, Specimen Display

10:00 A.M. Business Meeting:Welcome and introduction of new members.

10:30 A.M. Horticulture Workshop: Club member and NGC Gardening Consultant,

Pat Zarnowski will present a workshop on “Composting.”

11:00 A.M. Program: Senior Museum Curator and Scientist at UC Riverside, Steve Morgan,

will present a program on “Orchids.” Learn about the culture of various types of orchids.

Steve will also demonstrate orchid repotting.

12:00 P.M. Luncheon: BBI (Brown Bag It). Please bring table service for you and your guests.

May Club Activities

May 20 , 2008 — General Membership Meeting

9:30 A.M. Plant Market, Country Store, Specimen Display

10:00 A.M. Business Meeting: Welcome and introduction of new members. Budget presentation.

10:30 A.M. Horticulture Workshop: Club members will help assemble items for the 2008 CGCI Convention

hosted by the San Fernando Valley District.

11:00 A.M. Program: Club members, Hari Multani, Robin Pokorski and Eileen Fiumara will lead tours of the

best garden plots at the Sepulveda Garden Center. Take “A Walk in the Garden” and marvel at the

variety of gardens that were entered in the Beautiful Garden contest sponsored by our club.

12:00 P.M. Luncheon: BBI (Brown Bag It). Please bring table service for you and your guests.

June Club Activities

June 17 , 2008 — General Membership Meeting

9:30 A.M. Plant Market, Country Store, Specimen Display

10:00 A.M. Business Meeting: Welcome and introduction of new members. Presentation of awards.

CGCI Convention Report.

10:30 A.M. Presentation of Honored Guests : Former Club Presidents, former District Directors and

honored guests.

11:00 A.M. Program: Installation of 2008 – 2009 officers.

12:00 P.M. Luncheon: Potluck luncheon. Bring your favorite dish to serve 10 and a serving implement.

The table service for you and your guests will be provided.
